A National-Level Competition

More than a flooring expo.

Epoxy Floor Wars is a live head-to-head competition built around decorative concrete, resin flooring, creativity, technique and teamwork. The official 2025 event ran October 16–18 and is identified by Epoxy Floor Wars as Season 3.

The competition format puts crews through timed work, team rotations, skills challenges, penalties and judging. Only two competitors from each team can work on the floor at a time, with mandatory switches every 15 minutes. That pressure makes planning, product knowledge and execution matter just as much as creativity.

For Bear Design, the value goes beyond the trophy. It is exposure to advanced techniques, new materials, creative concrete effects and other professionals who push this trade forward.

What Was Built

Four different surface ideas. One competition floor.

The 2025 competition floor showcased radically different decorative styles side-by-side: high-gloss metallic epoxy, geometric layouts, wood-look concrete, stone-look concrete and polished aggregate effects.

Learning, competing and representing Bear Design.

Ashton’s photos from the event show the side customers normally never see: working with other installers, meeting judges and industry leaders, seeing specialty products in use and being part of a team competing in front of a live audience.

That experience feeds directly back into Bear Design’s work in Pittsburgh — metallic floors, flake systems, custom resin, concrete effects and one-off surfaces designed to look different from everyone else’s.

Competition Format

Skill under a clock.

Official Floor Wars rules make the event intentionally demanding: competitors rotate every 15 minutes, only two gladiators per team may be on the floor at one time, teams can be hit with penalties, and random skills or trivia challenges can interrupt the work. Judges score independently and their verdicts are final.

Those rules force competitors to think ahead, communicate and execute cleanly even when the plan changes.
